Power Platform – Powerful Alone, Better Together
What is Power Platform?
Power Platform is a term that is fast becoming popular, especially around the IT world.
It is a collective term for four Microsoft products, namely:
- Power Apps
- Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow)
- Power BI
- Power Virtual Agents
The above are some of the suites of applications available on Microsoft’s Office 365 designed to help improve productivity and drive business efficiency within an organization.
These applications are: “Powerful Alone, Better Together.”
Power Platform was designed to enable everyone to become solution developers, and this is why all of the applications on the platform are low-code/no-code apps. It means almost everyone within your organization with/without in-depth technical/coding skills can use the platform in developing solutions that can help solve different business problems within your organization.
Applications in the Power Platform
Power Apps is a platform that allows you to develop custom business applications with little or no code. It can quickly integrate and interact with different services, connectors, and data sources within and outside Office 365. You can quickly build amazing user-friendly applications that can be used on both Mobile devices and PCs.
Examples include a Leave Request App, Expense Management, etc.
Power Automate helps you automate repetitive business processes while focusing on more important things within your business. By doing this, you will be saving time and energy as well as boosting business productivity. With the little or no-code approach, almost anyone can use the platform to automate their daily tasks.
Examples include Approval Workflows, Automated Emails, etc.
Power BI is a business analytics tool that allows you to easily and quickly connect to different data sources, create reports and dashboards, and gain insight into your data. The rich visualization this tool provides gives you a 360-degree view of your data at a glance, which could help you make informed decisions quickly. An example is creating your organization’s Sales Report.
Power Virtual Agent is another fantastic platform that enables anyone to create powerful chatbots that engage conversationally with your customers and employees with a no-code graphical interface without needing the help of a developer or data scientist.
An example is creating a Power Virtual Agent that helps respond to customer’s complaints.
Considering how much “power” the Power Platform gives to all employees in the organization, the platform is one to be considered for businesses that want to be more productive while spending less. Also, even though these applications are Powerful individually, one would discover that they are even better when used together.
